The Joyce Z. and Jacob Greenberg Center for Jewish Studies has hosted visiting scholars and professors since its founding. Today, visitors are supported by the Joyce Zeger Greenberg Visiting Professorship in Jewish Studies, the June and Harold Patinkin Visiting Professorship in Modern Israeli Studies, and the Shulamit Ran and Abraham Lotan Visiting Distinguished Artists Fund.
Joyce Zeger Greenberg Visiting Professors in Jewish Studies
The Joyce Zeger Greenberg Visiting Professorship in Jewish Studies was endowed in 2013 to bring distinguished senior scholars to the University of Chicago each year. The Professorship can be held by scholars in any field of Jewish Studies in the humanities and social sciences, from antiquity to the present, engaged in the study of the history, thought, religion, literature, languages, and culture of the Jews and Judaism.

June and Harold Patinkin Visiting Professors in Modern Israeli Studies
Supported by the June and Harold Patinkin Fund in Modern Israeli Studies, this Visiting Professorship brings essential and emerging scholars of politics, society, and culture in Israel to the University of Chicago for one quarter each year. The June and Harold Patinkin Visiting Professors in Modern Israel Studies offer courses on an Israel-centered topic, work with students at all levels and across our many schools who seek knowledge about Israel, liaise with our many faculty members for whom Israel is an important research focus, and deliver public programming that brings the fruits of their research to the larger University community and its friends.
