The Joyce Z. and Jacob Greenberg Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Chicago is an inter-divisional center spanning the Arts and Humanities Division, the Social Sciences Division, and the Divinity School.
The Greenberg Center aims to nurture dialogue among the many disciplines, scholars, and students engaged in Jewish Studies including Jewish history in its full geographical and temporal sweep, Jewish thought and literature in all its forms, Judaism in all its expressions, and Jewish political, cultural, social, and intellectual life around the world today.
The Center administers the program in Jewish Studies, which includes a Major and Minor along with the Jewish Civilization core sequence. It provides graduate student travel and research grants, supports undergraduate projects, and funds two annual undergraduate prizes. We also sponsor seminars, book talks, lectures, and workshops to support the ongoing research of University Chicago faculty and students and host distinguished visitors in Jewish Studies.
